The Jerusalem International Film Festival is a leading cinematic event in the world. It celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2008 and opens every year in July with a spectacular night gala in the Sultan's Pool Amphitheatre, under the stars.
The festival features world premieres of Israeli and Jewish films, classics and documentary films, and presents the best national talent.

Grants and prizes are awarded for Israeli cinema, amongst others for best full-length feature, best actor, best actress, best documentary film, best student short narrative film. The Van Leer Group Foundation contributes to prizes for the advancement of cinema in Israel and to young filmmakers in particular.
